All-new Saab 9-5 Saloon
Sleek, sophisticated and unmistakably Saab, the all-new 9-5 saloon signals the dawn of a new era for the Saab brand. With progressive, confident styling and advanced technology, Saab's distinctive new flagship will bring a fresh, alternative choice to the premium saloon segment when it goes on sale in 2010.
The clean, sculpted shape embraces the purity of Scandinavian design, and its dramatic wraparound window graphic echoes Saab's aviation heritage. With styling inspired by the award-winning Aero X concept car and a muscular, low-slung stance, the new 9-5 heralds the introduction of a bold and expressive design language.
The array of high-tech features on offer includes: an aircraft-inspired head-up information display (HUD); adaptive headlights (Bi-Xenon Smart Beam); adaptive cruise control; Saab DriveSense adaptive chassis with real-time damping control; keyless entry and starting; dual-zone climate control; dynamic parking assistance, and Saab XWD with eLSD: the industry-leading all-wheel-drive system.
The face of the new 9-5 is defined by a deep grille flanked with curving, ice-block headlamp units. The entire glasshouse is presented as a 'wraparound' mono graphic: the disguised windshield and side pillars giving the cabin Saab's signature cockpit look. In this interplay of proportions, the windshield and roof are reminiscent of the classic 900 model.
The all-turbo powertrain line-up is the broadest ever offered by Saab, carrying forward Saab's rightsizing engine strategy focusing on responsible performance through the development of highly efficient four cylinder turbo engines. There is a choice of three fuels - petrol, diesel and E85 bioethanol - and with diesel power, the new 9-5 offers CO2 emissions as low as 139 g/km.
This car is the start of a new era for our brand," says Jan-ke Jonsson, Saab Automobile's Managing Director. "We have created an advanced and very distinctive product by leveraging the power of our roots in key areas, such as progressive Scandinavian design, sporty driving and responsible performance. The new 9-5 delivers in all these respects, as will every future product from Saab."
Defined and equipped by Saab as its top-of-the-line contender in the premium saloon segment, the all-new 9-5 is the most technically advanced car ever produced by the company. It will be built at Saab’s home plant in Trollhattan, where it has been engineered.
The all-new Saab 9-5 saloon makes its public debut at the 2009 Frankfurt International Motor Show. Combining head-turning good looks with cutting-edge driving technology, it's the start of a new chapter for Saab.

VAUXHALL LAUNCHES MOST ECONOMICAL CAR IN COMPANY’S HISTORY
- Highly competitive BIK and VED thanks to low emissions
- Tyre and wheel changes help improve aero and save weight
Luton – With a combined C02 rating of just 105g/km, the latest Vauxhall Corsa ecoFLEX shaves a remarkable 14g/km off the outgoing model’s emissions figure, and now achieves 85.6mpg on the Government’s extra urban fuel cycle – an improvement of over 13 per cent.
Now officially Vauxhall’s most economical production vehicle in its 106-year history, the
3-door only Corsa ecoFLEX will pave the way for even more efficient vehicles, such as the groundbreaking Ampera, as the company reinforces its commitment to reducing C02 emissions.
On sale now, the new Corsa ecoFLEX has a raft of improvements to optimise its already efficient aerodynamics and 1.3-litre CDTi powertrain, which still produces 75PS and achieves similar performance to that of the outgoing model.
A shorter second-gear ratio improves the Corsa ecoFLEX’s driveability around town, while the engine’s generous 170Nm of torque from just 1750rpm allows it to pull a taller fourth and fifth-gear ratio, offering drivers a more relaxed cruising gait and better economy on longer journeys.
Aerodynamics have been enhanced by lowering the Corsa’s ride height by 20 millimetres and optimising airflow through its front air intakes. Complementing these changes are narrower (175/70 instead of 185/70) low-rolling resistance tyres, fitted to lighter
14-inch steel wheels with new wheel trims – part of a weight-saving package that cuts the Corsa ecoFLEX’s kerbweight by 45 kilogrammes.
Available in Life and Club trims, the Corsa ecoFLEX starts at just £11,295, though buyers with qualifying vehicles can use the joint Vauxhall/Government ‘scrappage’ incentive to obtain a £2,000 discount, reducing this price to £9,295. And since the Corsa ecoFLEX attracts only 13 per cent Benefit in Kind tax for company drivers, and a mere £35 VED annually, it’s set to be one of the cheapest cars to run on the market.

VIVARO VOTED BEST MEDIUM VAN 2009 BY VAN FLEET WORLD
The Vauxhall Vivaro has once again seen off all competition and claimed the top award for Best Medium Van at the 2009 Van Fleet World Awards.
The awards run by the Fleet World Group are now in their tenth year, which makes the Vauxhall Vivaro the most successful Van Fleet World winner in its class, having won the Best Medium Van title no less than seven times in addition to the Best New Van Award following its launch in 2001.
The UK-built Vivaro has proved itself a favourite with customers too, with its innovative line-up of Euro 4 diesel engines, flexible range of conversions and back-up from a comprehensive network of Vauxhall Retailers.
Van Fleet World editor John Kendall commented: ‘The Vauxhall Vivaro first came to market in 2001 and the van still has a great deal to offer. Inside there is plenty of storage space in the cab and the driving position is still one of the most comfortable on the market. Even with a bulkhead fitted, taller drivers will find plenty of legroom.
Vivaro remains a good van to drive with quiet engines and a fine balance of ride and handling either empty, or fully loaded. The engine range includes 90PS or 115PS 2.0-litre common-rail diesel - the main fleet options, as well as a 2.5-litre 146PS common-rail diesel engine. Both the 2.0CDTI 115PS and 2.5CDTI are available with the semi-automatic six-speed Tecshift gearbox.
Commenting on the award, Chairman of Judges George Emmerson said: ‘Vauxhall Vivaro has held onto this award for several years in the face of stiff competition - testament to its quality and reliability. Fleet managers would not hesitate to specify the Vauxhall Vivaro for their fleet.’
Richard Collier, National Commercial Vehicle Sales Manager, said: “This is a real milestone for Vivaro. To be independently judged best in your class seven times in the last nine years just confirms for us what a great product we have to offer our customers”.
The Fleet World Honours are presented annually to those motor manufacturers, service companies and individuals who have, in the opinion of the judges, achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector. The judging panel is chaired by industry professional, George Emmerson, who has managed fleets at IBM, NHBC and Black Horse Agencies. Members of the judging panel include Ken Rogers, John Kendall, and Ross Durkin from Fleet World’s editorial team, and fleet manager Jackie Pomfrett. Residual value, maintenance cost and reliability data is also provided by ALD Automotive, Masterlease and ING Car Lease. Market value data is provided by EurotaxGlass, CAP Motor Research and Vehicle Information Publishing.
The Vauxhall ecoFLEX car range was also recognised at the Fleet World Awards, winning the coveted Fleet World Environmental Award.
